Privacy Policy

This site, ianwturton.com, is run by Ian W Turton ("I", "me"), serving construction and home-services businesses in the United Kingdom. I'm the data controller for the personal information collected through this site. You can reach me about anything in this policy at ian@ianwturton.com.

I only collect what the service in front of you needs:

• Questions and audit forms. Name, email, company name, website address and anything you write in a message box. Used to answer your question, run your audit and arrange the work you've asked for.
• The free diagnostic. Email address, phone number if you give one, and the website address you submit. Used to run the diagnostic and send you the result.
• Newsletter and updates. Email address, only if you sign up. Used to send you what you signed up for, nothing else.
• Purchases. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe; I never see or store your card details. Stripe shares your name, email, phone number and what you bought with me so I can deliver it. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the payment itself.

The diagnostics and audits use AI (Anthropic's Claude) to analyse the website addresses and business information you submit. What you submit is sent to the AI provider to produce your result, and isn't used by me to train any model. Don't submit information you don't have the right to share.

Form submissions and diagnostic results are stored in a database hosted by Supabase. Payment records live with Stripe. Bookings live with Cal.com. Each of those providers publishes its own privacy and security terms, and I keep access to your information limited to what running the service needs.

This site keeps cookies to a minimum: what's needed for the site to function and to remember basic preferences such as display theme. There's no advertising tracking. Embedded videos are served through YouTube's privacy-enhanced player, which doesn't set tracking cookies unless you play the video.

Enquiries and diagnostic submissions are kept for as long as they're useful for the purpose you gave them, then deleted. Records of paid work are kept for six years to meet UK tax and accounting obligations. Newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe.

Under UK GDPR you can ask me for a copy of the personal information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, delete it, restrict how I use it, or object to my using it. You can withdraw consent at any time, and unsubscribe links are in every newsletter email. Email ian@ianwturton.com and I'll act on it promptly. If you're not happy with how I've handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If this policy changes, the new version goes up here with a new date. Material changes to how your information is used will be flagged clearly on the site.
