Opportunity Leakage Audit · Tier 1

Now every contractor has a slick AI website. The serious buyer still can't tell who can actually do the work.

When every contractor's site looks the same, your real capability stops reading. The Opportunity Leakage Audit shows exactly where buyers and main contractors stop believing you, before price is even discussed, and what work it's quietly costing you.

Rubbish in, rubbish out

AI didn't raise the floor. It flooded the signal.

Every contractor can now generate a confident website, a tidy case study, and a polished bio in an afternoon. Buyers and main contractors know it, so those signals have stopped meaning anything.

Feed a business rubbish inputs and a rubbish process, and AI just produces more convincing rubbish, faster. The capable contractor gets buried in it.

So the better contractor doesn't lose on capability. It loses because clients can no longer read that capability quickly enough to shortlist it, and nobody's measured where.

What this is really for

This is for contractors that know something is off, but can't yet see it clearly. You may run real projects well, with genuine delivery strength and every reason to be on better tender lists, but the response from buyers doesn't match.

The right projects rarely seem to land.

Quotes and tenders go quiet without clear explanation.

You get dragged toward price too early.

Too much commercial handling still sits with you, the owner.

The question isn't what to improve. It's where you're being under-read by the people who shortlist you, what's causing it, and what it's already costing in lost work every month it stays unfound.

What gets reviewed

The audit reads the parts of the business that shape how buyers judge you, before and during live opportunities.

Visibility to the buyers and main contractors who shortlist

Trust and credibility signals a serious client looks for

Proof you can do the work, at the level you want

Clarity of offer and the projects you are right for

How your quotes and tenders present commercially

The friction that quietly drops you off a shortlist

How enquiries and opportunities get handled once they arrive

What you get
  • where your business is being read below its true level by buyers
  • where trust, evidence, or positioning are breaking
  • where shortlisting friction is quietly costing you work
  • what to fix first to win better-fit projects
  • what not to waste time on yet

A clear written report: what's leaking, what it's costing, and where the fastest gains sit. Not a vague sense that something needs improving.

What this isn't

This is diagnosis only. It doesn't include:

  • implementation
  • free corrective consulting
  • a full marketing plan
  • done-for-you execution

That boundary is deliberate. It keeps the work commercially honest and focused on finding the real problem first. If the diagnosis is useful, you decide how to act on it.

Ian W Turton
Who's behind it

I've read contractors the way your buyers read them, for a living.

I'm Ian W Turton. More than 45 years across construction, commercial management, bank monitoring, employer's agent work, and major project delivery, through to Head of Commercial at NEOM.

In monitoring and selection roles, I wasn't paid to admire claims. I was paid to read risk, to judge whether a contractor was really operating at the level the project needed. The ones I could shortlist with confidence were the readable ones. The ones I passed over weren't always weaker. Their capability just wasn't visible enough to defend.

I've also built the systems inside contractors that make them readable, scaling one maintenance business at Willmott Dixon roughly 14 times over without adding back-office headcount. So I know both sides: how buyers judge you, and what it takes to fix what they're seeing.

That's why this audit exists. Capable contractors rarely fail on capability. They fail because the market can't read it early enough to act.

Who this is for
  • do better work than the projects they are currently being offered
  • suspect they are being underestimated by buyers and main contractors
  • want a serious commercial diagnosis, not generic marketing advice
  • are willing to look at how they are actually read on a shortlist

If you've ever thought, "we're better than the work we're being offered," this is for you.

Why diagnosis first

Correction without diagnosis usually creates more noise. Contractors redesign too early, rewrite messaging without knowing what's wrong, and chase more tenders when access to the right shortlists is the real issue.

Fix in the wrong order and you waste time, money, and attention. Diagnosis comes first so correction is proportionate and properly sequenced.
